Thousands of people came out to Central Park for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Race for the Cure event on Sept. 9. Wearing lots of pretty pink, thousands of people came to the park early Sunday morning to race, run, walk or stroll with their friends, family and survivors, like my mom.
It was a good walk for the cause to bring awareness for women and men diagnosed, living with or surviving breast cancer. So many people walked or ran in celebration or in memory of loved ones. Komen raised thousands of dollars to help people dealing with this horrible disease.
Members of the Amsterdam News staff walked in the race for the fifth year to show support for women and families who have faced breast cancer.
