An introduction to our next four writing sessions at Grounds. During these gatherings we’ll focus on the literary traditions and innovations as seen in the writings of poets like Audre Lore, Ntozake Shange, Amiri Baraka and Nikki Giovanni. There will also be various writing exercises.

Saturday November 24 – Masterclass by Aja Monet
Miss Aja Monet (pic) will host our second masterclass in Grounds. This amazing writer independently published her first book of poetry, The Black Unicorn Sings (Penmanship books) and recently collaborated with poet/musician Saul Williams on the book Chorus: a literary mixtape (MTV books/SimonSchuster).

Sunday November 25 – Poetry event at Paradiso
Our next poetry event features performances by Aja Monet, Zulile, leslie ebony and two of the poets who joined our writing sessions in Rotterdam. During the new QA-part of the program, Aja Monet will tell us more about her writing process, the publications that came from that and her experiences in the poetry communities in New York and Paris.
